Admission Criteria
Girard College is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory 5-day boarding school for grades 1-12.
All students are awarded full scholarships.
To be eligible for admissions, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Students must be at least five years old, entering grades 1-9 (when spaces are available)
- Students must come from a home without one or both parents (Children who live
with grandparents, relatives, foster parents or guardians are also eligible.)
- Child must be a United States Citizen or Resident Alien
- Family must demonstrate financial need (review HUD guidelines for low income families*)

- Students must consistently have good grades in all academic subjects
- Students must be on grade level or above in all core subjects
- Students must provide positive social and behavioral statements from previous school(s)
- Students must demonstrate good citizenship
- Students must have the ability to fully participate in Girard's program
- Students must be able to attend a 5-day boarding program
* Girard uses the low income limits (80%) for Philadelphia County. Families not in Philadelphia
should call HUD or log onto huduser.org to find information for their county
