Sponsor a Student at Girard
You or your organization can sponsor a child through an annual gift of $16,800, the variable cost of educating a Girard College student for a year. We will send you the student's first name, grade and age. The family will be notified that someone is supporting their child, but they will not receive any identifying information about you. Twice each year, we will send you an update about your student's academic achievements, activities, interests and challenges. There will be opportunities during the school year for you to meet the student and engage in some meaningful activity. You gain the satisfaction of knowing that you have made a significant difference in the life of a child.
Maintained in perpetuity, an endowment gift is an enduring contribution to Girard’s future. Girard’s endowment, made possible through the generosity of Stephen Girard, has accumulated over decades and has been managed with careful investment to ensure the future of the College for Generations to come. At Girard, about 95% of annual operating costs are paid by the income from the endowment. In the absence of tuition income, the endowment is especially important
to Girard’s secure future.
- Here is a look at the approximate variable costs associated with offering full-tuition scholarships:
$16,800—one tuition scholarship per year
$201,600—one tuition scholarship for twelve years
- In addition to providing the yearly cost of a tuition scholarship, you have the option of creating a named endowment that funds a student scholarship:
$340,000—approximate endowment principal needed for one tuition scholarship for one year
$180 million—endowment principal needed for 530 tuition scholarships each year
Named endowments often honor or memorialize the donor or another individual. An endowed fund can be established with a $50,000 outright gift or $100,000 over three years.
