Join Our Online Alumni Community
We're excited to announce that we are creating a dynamic online alumni community!
Girard College alumni can visit our Web site and log in to a section of the site that is just for them. Entering the password-protected alumni portal, alumni may connect in ways that are broader and more meaningful than ever before.
Click the "LOGIN" button to the right to access the portal. This button can also be found on the home page. Alternately, you can access the portal from anywhere on the site by clicking the "Portal Login" link found at the bottom-right corner of every page.
YOU SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED THIS POSTCARD IN SEPTEMBER 2011. If you did not, please contact the GCAA Office at (215) 232-8882 and give your mailing information to Alicia Orehowsky, the administrative assistant in that office, or complete the "Update Contact Information" form. You can access this form on the left of this screen.
Some of the features of this section of our site are:
- A Searchable Alumni Directory - reconnect with old friends
- A Place for alumni class notes - alumni may post updates and photos of themselves as well as view class notes and photos that others post.
- A Place for password-protected content such as special alumni-only events.
- "The Best of the Steel & Garnet" - select feature articles from past issues
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) about the Alumni Portal
Q. Why will there be parts of the Girard Web site that I can't access without a password?
A. The Girard Web site has two parts: the public content is where we post information that can be seen by the general public, such as news, events, curriculum, etc., and the private content that can only be seen by members of the Girard community with user accounts. Faculty and parents are two examples of groups with password-protected information on the Web.
For alumni, the private site will be a place where you can post class notes, update your profiles, and look up information on classmates. Some of the information on the public site may be duplicated on the private site, such as campus news.
Q. How will I log in to the Girard Web site if I do not have a password or if I have forgotten my password?
A. You should have received a folding postcard with your unique user name and password. This will be your "key" to the portal.
Please contact Alicia Orehowsky, Administrative Assistant of the GCAA, if you have any difficulties or have a question or concern.
Q. What if I don't want my information displayed in the directory?
A. You will be able to choose what information to display in the Girard online directory. You will be able to select to have only your name, or any other information published in the directory, and only viewed by members of specific groups, such as parents, students, alumni, etc.
Q. How will I look up information on classmates and other Girard community members?
A. Once logged in, you will be able to search through Directories or Groups. In Directories, you can use the basic or advanced search to use fields such as name, address, e-mail address, graduating year, etc. to find a friend.
